BEAM Get-Together 2026
On June 3, a D-Colloquium & Get-Together took place, bringing together the members of BEAM. After the presentations, they played volleyball, enjoyed a barbecue, and had a lot of fun together.
Exhibition – Pioneering Women
BEAM is presenting an extraordinary exhibition at the LĂśwengebäude and at the Ratshof in Halle in the coming weeks: âPioneering Womenâ. Since historical images of many early female pioneers in chemistry, physics, and mathematics are often lacking, portraits were created using artificial intelligence (AI) to give these female scientists the presence they were denied during their lifetimes. The artist Gesine Born, founder of the Bilderinstitut, brought these images to life. The result is a series of prints that show women such as the first programmer Ada Lovelace, the astronomer Caroline Herschel, and the Halle-based medical pioneer Dorothea Erxleben in a confident and modern aesthetic.
In addition to the historical figures, four of our current doctoral students from the graduate college are also presented in the exhibition to build a bridge to modern research.
The exhibition in the LĂśwengebäude will take place from 05.02. to 15.03.2026 and can be visited during the building’s regular opening hours. The exhibition will open on 05.02.2026 at 5 pm.
The exhibition in the Ratshof will take place in March and can also be visited during the building’s regular opening hours. The exhibition will open on 04.03.2026 at 4 pm.
Admission to both events and exhibitions is free. We cordially invite you to the exhibition openings.

Anna Luisa Upterworth in Amsterdam
Over the past two weeks, our doctoral researcher Anna Luisa Upterworth participated in MolSim-2026, hosted by the Computational Chemistry Group at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. One of her personal takeaways was the wrapping her head around transition path sampling.
