BEAM has thrived through the hard, smart, and creative work of its doctoral researchers, its PIs and the amazing organizational team Dr. Imme Sakwa-Waltz, Lisa Krahnefeld, Nicole Haak, Saskia Walther and Kristin Leimer.

BEAM will have its version of The Next Generation (TNG) and we are looking forward to more

  • fantastic science in molecular self-assembly, ranging from fundamental physical chemistry and mathematics via materials science all the way into biotechnology
  • innovative workshops, coachings, and projects for empowering and increasing visibility of women and minority groups in German academia (together, e.g., with Gesine Born in our pioneering women project)
  • empowerment of doctoral researchers through our mobility program to high-level international partner universities, through the possibility of creating, carrying out and managing their own incubator projects – “hands-on” training in project management leading to scientific progress
  • leading gifted undergraduate students – of all study programs carrying BEAM – towards research early through our BEAM student talent program

We may not – yet – be Starfleet Academy but we will carry on with our integrative BEAM spirit that we have developed in the past four years!
